  Tailgating
The WSU Tailgate Policy (see below) has been revised and will be in effect during Homecoming 2014.  Note that due to a limited number of parking spaces available this year, we encourage alumni to consider carpooling with friends and family. Please carefully review the updated tailgate policy, including the designated tailgating hours, prior to your arrival on campus.

WSU Tailgate Policy

The safety and security of all of our guests is of paramount importance to the University.  Therefore, the following tailgate policy will be placed in effect beginning in the fall of 2013.

All persons entering the tailgating grounds are subject to University rules and regulations, and the Laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  The University shall not be held liable or responsible for any actions taken by the public or tailgaters while on state property or in regards to alcoholic beverage consumption.

Please see the WSU Tailgating Policy below.
  • Tailgating and the consumption of alcohol by those 21 years of age and older are only permissible in the designated, police-monitored area of campus during designated tailgate hours.
  • Tailgating will be permitted during the following times.
    • Beginning two (2) hours prior to kickoff until the scheduled kickoff time.
    • All tailgating must cease at the scheduled kickoff time and tailgaters are encouraged to enter the game.
    • Tailgating may resume at the start of half time and will conclude at the start of the second half of the game.
    • All tailgating must cease and tailgating amenities must be packed at the start of the second half of the game.
    • Tailgaters are requested to depart campus immediately following the conclusion of the football game.
    • Early admittance and RVs are not permitted.
  • Underage possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages is illegal.  Similarly, providing alcoholic beverages to underage persons is illegal.  WSU maintains a zero tolerance policy regarding these matters.  Kegs, beer balls, etc. are strictly prohibited. Further, glass bottles are not permitted.
  • Tailgating amenities (i.e. grills, tents, chairs) may not obstruct sidewalks, drive lanes, or pedestrian walkways.
  • The campus speed limit is 15 mph at all times.
Please note that the University may revoke the tailgating privileges and eject or refuse entry to persons for violation of tailgating rules, disruptive behavior, illegal activity, or other misconduct.

Our aim in these policy revisions is to curtail excessive drinking - with special attention to underage students - while maintaining our tradition of Lancer camaraderie. We thank you for your support of these policies
